When the Xiaomi Pro Electric Scooter came out, it was Xiaomi’s premium choice for those looking for seamless mobile transport. With the emergence of new technology, it isn’t challenging to merge together the best features of the Pro with better performing specs.

Introducing the new Xiaomi Pro 2, the top-of-the-line pick for everyone looking for the best at an affordable price. This latest version of everyone’s favourite urban scooter offers new and improved details like superior lighting and more adaptable driving modes.

Of course, the Xiaomi Pro 2 still offers incredible specs like reaching a good 25 kph as its top speed and travelling to a maximum distance of 45 km (more than average for commuter scooters).

It’s as easy to bring along as the Pro since the Pro 2 is only 14.2 kg and can fold quickly in just 3 seconds. The Pro 2 also features the most powerful motor for the Xiaomi scooter series which has a power of 300W and can go up to 600W at its peak.

What’s more, you can also change the 21.6-cm pneumatic tyres of the Xiaomi Pro 2 as it comes with a spare. No more worries about tyre emergencies!

Xiaomi Pro 2 vs. Xiaomi Pro

With the introduction of the new Xiaomi Pro 2, tons have been asking the same question: is it worth getting the upgrade?

You might have read in most reviews that there isn’t much of a difference between the Xiaomi Pro and Pro 2, especially when you compare their specifications. Sure, if you already have the Xiaomi Pro and are perfectly happy with it, there’s no need to change to the Pro 2.

But if you’re just getting an e-scooter and are of two minds whether to get the Xiaomi Pro or Xiaomi Pro 2, here is the main reason why you should choose the latter.

Despite having similar specs, the Xiaomi Pro 2 comes with a few upgrades to slightly improve your experience. The latest detail in the Xiaomi Pro 2 makes you more flexible when on the city roads, and makes riding around traffic and pedestrians a whole lot easier. It also comes with a free spare tyre.

Key Differences

So why choose Xiaomi Pro 2 over the Xiaomi Pro?

What makes the Xiaomi Pro 2 different and better than its predecessor is its flexibility and ease of experience when riding through the city. The two key differences between the two e-scooters are their driving modes and light features.

Driving Mode

The Xiaomi Pro has three driving modes which include ECO Mode, Standard Mode, and Sports Mode. The Xiaomi Pro 2 also has three; namely, the Pedestrian Mode, Standard Mode, and Sports Mode.

The Pro’s ECO Mode is presented as the mode that you can save more energy because you’re going at a slightly slower speed. The fastest you can go in ECO Mode is 15 kph (10kph slower than the Pro’s top speed of 25kph).

The Pro 2’s new Pedestrian mode is improved to really help you navigate through city streets. You can only go up to 5kph in Pedestrian Mode (20kph slower than the Pro 2’s top speed of 25kph) which makes it safer to ride while near walking people and easier to avoid accidents involving others on the road.

Lights

Another upgrade that the Pro 2 enjoys is its 2W LED headlight (vs. the Pro’s 1W LED headlight). Its better illumination significantly improves your night riding experience and increases security as well. The Pro 2’s rear light and rear fender also have a few changes that can raise your safety while riding.

As most countries are also improving their safety requirements with regards to electric scooters, Xiaomi Pro 2 also has reflectors on each side for better visibility during the night.

Motor

The Xiaomi Pro and Pro 2 also have a few differences in their motor. The Xiaomi Pro features a brushless low-speed current Hall electric motor while the Xiaomi Pro 2 has a brushless DC (direct current) motor.

However, both motors are of the brushless variety, which means they use the same process to work (using a permanent magnet as an external rotor). Both the Xiaomi Pro and Pro 2 also produce the same 300W Nominal Power and 600W Peak Power. That means you can expect a powerful performance whichever of the two you choose.

Xiaomi Pro 2 vs. Xiaomi 1S vs. Xiaomi Lite

Now that you have a clue of how to differentiate the Xiaomi Pro and Pro 2, you should also take a look at the latest specs that the 2020 models have in store for you.

The great thing about the 2020 lineup of e-scooters is that when Xiaomi decided to upgrade, they did it for all their new models. So you can definitely make the most out of improved driving modes, braking systems, lights, and even LED displays.

The Xiaomi Pro 2, 1S, and Lite all have the same improved driving modes featuring Pedestrian Mode (only difference is top speed for Standard(Lite): 15kph and Sports(Lite): 20kph). Both the Xiaomi Pro 2 and 1S have the same Pro Version braking system as the Xiaomi Pro while the Lite has the same M365 Version braking system as the Xiaomi M365. All three models also have upgraded 2W lights and reflectors.

But comparing the differences between the three 2020 models isn’t fair for you since they work perfectly depending on how you want to ride them. Their different specs will work to your advantage when you know how you want to ride them.

Upgrade to the Best Ride with Xiaomi Pro 2

The Xiaomi Pro 2 is the most powerful out of all the new models. It is comparable to the Xiaomi Pro which means it’s definitely top of the line. If you’re looking for a commuter scooter that can easily take you from your home to your office, the Xiaomi Pro 2 is the one you want.

With a 45-km maximum range, you won’t have any problems travelling long distances. It has better driving modes than its predecessor. The Pedestrian Mode is definitely advantageous. The 25 kph top speed keeps you well within the speed limit while ensuring you can get to where you want faster.

This model can also climb steeper terrain better than the other two with a 20% gradeability. The downside, it needs to charge for longer at 8.5 hours. But that’s a fair trade-off for its superior performance.
